Inside the PDC are many fuses and relays which protect and control the many electrical circuits such as fuel pump and fuel injection systems. Fuses are used to safeguard electrical circuits and are designed to pop stopping the voltage flow in the event of a power overload or short circuit protecting the circuit wire from burning.

With the little map in the cover and the diagram of the owner's manual, you will have a clear guide on where to plug the wires. To help you out, most wires are color coded, thus giving you more information in how to locate each wire and follow the lead. If the wires are not colored, you must do it the old fashion way. Here is where the tester comes in handy. You will have to test every fuse and wire to make sure of the right numbers, thus giving you the correct lead.

Once the wire problem is located, typically the damaged wire or two can be repaired, or a new piece of wire can be spliced in. But sometimes the damage is more extensive, wires are melted, or a hard-to-reach location makes repair impossible.

Every car audio installer, indeed, every automotive professional, will always recommend this first step: disconnect the battery by removing the negative battery cable. You want to do this in order to avoid any possibility of a short circuit. Remember that on many late-model vehicles, you will need a "radio code" in order to reactivate the radio.

The crankcase is located beneath the cylinder block. The crankcase protects the crankshaft and connecting rods from outside objects. The area at the bottom of a crankcase is called the oil pan and that’s where your engine’s oil is stored. Inside the oil pan, you’ll find an oil pump that pumps oil through a filter, and then that oil is squirted on to the crankshaft, connecting rod bearings, and cylinder walls to provide lubrication to the movement of the piston stroke. The oil eventually drips back down into the oil pan, only to begin the process again

The high-current wire from the battery might go through an appropriate fuse on the fuse panel or there might be an in-line fuse near the horns (it depends upon the production engineering decisions as to the most economical placement, but your schematic drawing will show its location).

Since harnesses come in all sizes from small and simple, to large and complex, the cost to purchase and install them covers a very broad range. Some vehicle manufacturers also specify harness replacement, rather than wire repair, on certain sensitive safety systems such as airbags. This type of specific guidance varies between manufacturers and can be found in their service information.

Notice that battery voltage travels through a high current wire (red) through the relay to the horn and also through a smaller wire (blue) through the ignition switch to the relay's low-current coil. The first thing you should be aware of is that the horn circuit is always "hot" or "live" when the ignition switch is turned on and all that's needed is a path to ground.
